I teach in a second grade general education classroom. My students range in academic abilities and social backgrounds. My students are from a rural community with limited resources and yet I strive to meet the needs of every student. I try to find not only success but also happiness for each individual student.
The students in my class bring sunshine to my day and smile to my face on a regular basis.
My students may come from various backgrounds with diversified opportunities but it is guaranteed that they come to school ready to learn.
My Project
As my students work on seat work the yoga balls and yoga cushions will give them the advantage of movement to improve their focus. While the bar stools will offer students a way to fulfill the needs of a stability option in class. Students with ADHD/ADD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder/attention deficit disorder) have been proven to benefit from the ability to have these options.
Flexible seating encourages my ADHD/ADD children to share space and supplies and allow them to find comfortable positions throughout the classroom.
Whereas, traditional seating can make students territorial or possessive over their space and supplies. All of these materials being requested will encourage my students to take turns in different locations and with different seating options.
