My favorite quote right now is from Ben Franklin, "Failing to prepare is preparing to fail". My current printer is 10 years old and does some odd things. I wonder everyday how much longer it is going to last. I am requesting a new printer in order to be prepared for the demise of my old one.
This year I am teaching both 7th Grade and 8th Grade History and I also am the advisor for our Student Government class.
We truly have a diverse student population in both ethnicity and ability levels. We are a small school for a middle school (525 students) which allows staff members to get to know the students and their abilities rather quickly, which I enjoy as a teacher. Our students also like the smallness because the teachers do get to know them so quickly.
My Project
Obviously, a new printer will help me get important materials to all my students. It is something that I use everyday and my students are the direct recipients of it as it is used for assignments, projects, flyers, and items of interest, etc. Hence, it is a huge tool in the learning environment of my students.
My Student Government students are constantly making flyers to promote school events. They would be extremely excited to have the ability to use color in the the items that they print instead of the "old style" black and white. All of the students from our school will indirectly benefit if we do get a color printer.
The use of color in a classroom and on paper would tremendously improve my classroom.
Anything I can do to grab the attention of my students increases their awareness and is beneficial to the learning process and improve their lives. We all get tired of the generic black and white colors, I would love to wake up my students with color.
