Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

On March 13th, we were told by our governor to close down. When it came to distance learning our teachers worked really hard, but not all districts are created equal. Our students lack of technology and internet access caused them to fall behind others in the state.

My Project

We are hoping to get our preschool students into the classroom in the fall. If Covid-19 numbers continue to climb, we will begin remote learning in the fall. Regardless of where we are learning this year, books are an essential component to our preschool program.

After a careful examination of my library collection, I recognized that my books needed more diversity.

It is important for my students to have access to books that show them as lead characters.

By adding these quality books to my current collection, students in our demographic will be represented.
