Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a teacher in a low income school district. It is my desire to inspire my students and instill a love for learning. My students are diverse and with different backgrounds. This is why we love learning from each other. I am looking to provide my students with resources to be able to enhance their learning experiences.
My students are eager to learn how to read and write and I'm excited to be equipped with the knowledge to help them explore the vast world of reading and writing.
My first graders will not only learn to read and write but we will learn to develop an effective classroom community. This project will also help them acquire a love for reading and writing.
My Project
Children love finding the smallest and most unique places to do things. This is why I decided to create a reading nook in my classroom. The swivel chair will encourage my students to dive into a good book. The shelves and pillows will be used as benches to create a cozy reading area that my students will L-O-V-E.
By creating a cozy and and comfy reading nook students will be excited about reading in his or her own private zone.
The rug will help make the nook a warm and more inviting corner. My students will be able to have a choice in the way they want to enjoy a good book. They will be able to sit on the shelves that I will set up as benches, or grab a pillow and use it to relax and read. Students will also be able to sit on the chairs or swivel chair. The more seating options they have the more excited they'll be to engage in reading.
