My Students
I have the pleasure to teach 18 of the sweetest 4 and 5 year old Pre-kindergarten students. The students qualify for the program due to special needs, academic challenges and family financial distress. Our school is a Title I school on the outskirts of Charlotte NC.
Several of my students have special learning needs, and all have financial challenges making ends meet at home.
But, they all come to school ready to learn and love every minute of it. Our school is fortunate to have several garden boxes where students help plant and harvest crops. Hands on learning is essential for giving students a sense of accomplishment. Your donation will help my students in the classroom and broaden their experiences.
My Project
Four and five year old children love to experiment and express themselves by painting. Unfortunately, there is no paint easel in my classroom.
Students can learn about colors, numbers, letters, and strengthen handwriting skills while painting at the easel I am requesting.
Students also gain confidence when mom hangs up their priceless painting on the refrigerator.
The student learning can be extended by adding books such as Mouse Paint, The Dot, and I Ain't Gonna Paint No More to our lessons. Students love to read these books and explore with mixing colors. Conversations, language and vocabulary come naturally when children are painting. They love to talk about their masterpiece!
