My students need 2 paper trimmers to display straight artwork when going to competitions and art shows.
Students continue to tell me my paper cutter cuts crooked. They hate to see their paper get trimmed down after their art work has already been completed, but itâs the only way to get their paper to mat straight for a show.
My students call themselves âOCDâ (obsessive compulsive) when it comes to their art work.
I tell them they should be very proud and to be picky when it comes to their art work. This is also reflected in their academic work as well.
I cut paper many times throughout a day. I buy 24âx36â paper in bulk so that I can pick the size for the project. Our current paper cutter is missing the safety guard and the guillotine arm does not remain up which is very dangerous. To make sure the paper is cut straight, I have to cut one page at a time. For a school of over 700 students, it takes up a lot of my time, when I could be planning and working with other students.
My project is important because Iâm showing the students that it is okay to be proud of your pickiness and I want to give them everything they need to make it perfect.
