Newcomers -students that are new to the country and are in the process of acquiring English language skills. They come from varying backgrounds where they may not have had consistent schooling prior to coming here.
My students are eager to learn and put forth their best effort into all that they do.
They have a love of learning and a true appreciation for the opportunities presented to them in this country. I believe that when their needs are met they will be upstanding citizens of our country and will contribute wonderful things to our communities!

My newcomer students are learning to read, write and speak in English! Please help me give them the tools necessary to do this. Thanks!
The students are in need of a balance between work and play and they do not have the funds to enjoy those activities in their own homes, so I want to provide a variety of fun ways for them to learn how to relate to one another.
I hope that with easy access to the tools and basic supplies necessary for our classroom to function my newcomers will be able to put even more effort into everything we do here at James Madison Elementary School.
