My students need standard classroom supplies (a pencil sharpener, pencils, erasers, tissues, napkins, sanitizer, and other cleaning supplies) for our learning environment so that we can start the year off strong.

My Students
I teach ELA, science, and social studies to sixth graders at a middle school in the poorest congressional district in the country.
My 6th grade 12:1 classroom is full of unique personalities.
Youthful, creative, funny, and dramatic, those are words to describe my students. These words demonstrate the ways my students express themselves; through origami, creative writing, video games, dance, music, and story-telling. These activities stimulate their minds and encourage critical thinking. As a teacher of exceptional learners, I strive to plan and implement lessons that meet the wide range of abilities for each of my students.
My Project
A classroom should be a calm and safe environment that supports learning and growth; socially, emotionally and academically for every student who enters. The goal of this project is to stock my classroom with plenty of essential supplies for the year so that my students may focus solely on learning.
I want my students to love our classroom!
The 6th grade is an important year in children's social and intellectual development. I want my students to feel safe as they are learning, instead of being worried about what supplies they may or may not have. My students will be able to use pencils, dry-erase markers, erasers, and sharpeners to complete their everyday tasks and use the cleaning supplies to keep our space clean.
Having enough of these supplies around will ensure that my students feel safe asking for whatever they need. It's my goal to help them advocate for their needs, so having enough supplies to go around will empower them to use their voices and start the year off strong.
