My students are junior high school students full of energy and enthusiasm for life. Some of the classes I teach are remediation classes, so those students are often unsure of how successful they'll be in school.
After working with them intensely for a few months, I love to see the looks on their faces when they experience successes, big and small, here in my classroom.
This is what fuels my teaching energy supply. At the end of the day, it is all about the students.
My Project
Students today have so many choices when it comes to how they'll spend their free time -- books have a lot of competition from video games, Netflix, and Hulu. These books are proven winners for students who aren't interested in other books -- books about sports, graphic novels, and books written in the style of realistic fiction -- written about kids just like them with problems that they can experience vicariously. As a reading teacher, I need to have a book ready at hand to give to a reluctant reader -- these books will fill that need in my classroom.
DonorsChoose is the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
