Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am the proud educator of twenty wonderful students. My students are smart, curious and absorb knowledge readily as well as easily. We,(the students and I) as a class, feel very lucky and proud of our school. Our school opened last September and we have had amazing success in offering our community a standard based curriculum.
In order to help my students learn, I have my students in small groups work at centers. I promote these centers on a daily basis to reinforce what has or is being taught. One resource that has TRULY sparked interest in my students are educational games. I have found that my students love learning when it's fun. My students have had amazing success learning through games. They especially look forward to playing with the few games that we have, the Alphabet and Numbers Bingo.
I have made hand made games but I would love it if my student's could have a variety of educational games to choose from. The learning that takes place at these centers is amazing! They are learning letters, numbers, rhymes and blends to name a few. They are also learning how to be team players. It's wonderful to see the students encouraging and helping their classmates to find a letter or number. Likewise, my parent volunteers enjoy working with a group of students at a center especially when they guide the students learning with games. They see the learning that takes place when educational tools are incorporated in our classroom and so do I!
