I am so blessed to be in contact with my fabulous 5-year-old students while schools are closed due to Covid-19. Unfortunately, like the rest of our nation, we are forced to gather remotely. I am so thankful for this, but boy is it a challenge with inadequate technology!
My Project
My kids have benefitted during our remote instruction... because I now have new technology in my home. As soon as our school closed due to Covid-19, I purchased a Mac Desktop for my home so I could provide quality instruction to my kiddos remotely. (My old computer was not up to the challenge.) Having this outstanding resource at home has allowed me to create super fun and motivating lessons for my 5-year-olds!
My students are now used to the high quality learning activities of the Mac... but I need a portable device (MacBook) so I can bring it to a quiet place during our Zoom lessons.
My home is so noisy with a house full of people working remotely online.
One of the most exciting uses for this device pertains to my math instruction. We participate in CGI Math, in partnership with UCLA. The kids are thriving in this program....however, I have not had adequate technology to allow the children to take their learning to the next level. With a MacBook, I can airdrop pictures of their problem solving displays so that we can analyze and learn from such, as a whole class.
I will bring it back to my classroom, the day we are fortunate enough to return. Aah, the instructional possibilities are so exciting!
