My students need Alphabetter Stand-Up Desks and a variety of chairs to move around the classroom and learn in an environment that is conducive to their learning styles.
Our school is an ancient building overflowing with exciting new ideas! Located in the heart of Chicago, our school brings together the best of the city and all that it has to offer to our children and community.
My students come from a splendid array of backgrounds and they they bring to our classroom their own unique ideas, thoughts and beliefs which makes for a truly dynamic learning environment.
We love to learn, to share that learning with others and to explore our individual ideas. We celebrate this amazing city and world that we live in on a daily basis.
My Project
As my classroom transitions more towards personalized learning, we are excited to transform our classroom into a learning environment that meets all the unique needs of my students. By providing materials where students feel more comfortable working and learning we will be creating more confident and successful learners. I'm requesting Alphabetter Stand-Up Desks, barrel chairs, Gaiam Kids Balance Ball Chairs, play tables, lap desks, floor seats, and stool seats.
The reality is, that our workforce today doesn't spend eternity sitting at a desk and neither should our children.
They should feel comfortable moving around the room and finding places to work that will support their academic learning. Some students may want to sit quietly on a cushion in the library while others may want to sit at a table talking and sharing their ideas. Just like adults, children have their own unique learning needs.
My classroom already has a great degree of autonomy when it comes to how we learn. We are hardly ever at our desk but rather are in the halls working, on the floor and at the tables. This is an opportunity to bring in materials to support this learning environment for not only the remainder of this school year, but for many more school years to come.
