The kindergarteners that I teach are highly motivated to learn and reach their learning goals throughout the year. They have a growth mindset and love to work together. We love using our data binders to see where we started at and where we are headed with our goals.
Though my students come from many different countries, they have excitement in their eyes when they have mastered and met the goals that they have set for themselves.
These students come from many different cultures from around the world to include Africa, Samoan Islands, Burma, and Mexico. We have eleven different cultures all from different socioeconomic levels who love to dance, move, read, learn, and have fun.
Due to the socio-economic levels, we are a Title I school with a high rate of free or reduced price lunches. We speak many different languages, but all desire to learn both academics and about others.
My Project
These children come into the classroom with eager eyes ready to be brave and learn all that they can. Binders, highlighters, sheet protectors, and tab inserts will help us to set goals, see what we have learned, and where we want to go all throughout the year! We love to look ahead and see where we are going and what we can do!
By having their own data binder, children can see their progress and set goals to keep moving ahead.
I envision my students keeping track of their attendance, sight words, letters, letter sounds, among other assessments we do. These data binders will help to improve their learning, by allowing us to track and give feedback to their learning. We talk daily about what we are learning but by having access daily to data binders the students will have a growth mindset for learning.
