I am a severe special education teacher with over twenty years of experience working with students who have autism and other developmental disabilities. In addition, I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
I am dedicated to providing my students with the highest level of instruction using evidenced based practices.
Applied behavior analysis is an evidenced based treatment for autism. Collecting and analyzing data in order to determine if interventions are effective is a continuous expectation within our program. Graphing data is time consuming, however, it is necessary to be able to quickly view and read graphs in order to make decisions about instruction in a timely manner.
I am seeking financial support to continue the use of Rethink, an electronic data collection system, for my severe special education classroom for students with autism and other developmental disabilities. Rethink offers curriculum that can be customized, unlimited virtual training from Rethink coaches, behavior support in providing tools for developing plans that decrease challenging behavior and increase learning of appropriate behaviors.
Rethink allows our staff to take and read data efficiently and allows us to quickly determine the effectiveness of our programming.
Prior to using Rethink, we relied on paper and pencil data collection which was time consuming. We are now able to dedicate more time to teaching.
