Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are energetic and amazing kids from the southside of Chicago. Most of the kids I teach are faced with challenges in their lives, both at home and at school. As their music teacher, I hope to help my students by encouraging them to express themselves in positive ways.
My students love music class because they get a chance to share a creative experience with their peers.
Our school is run on a bare bones budget, and funding for the arts is just not there. Your donation would help to provide a quality musical experience for deserving students.
My Project
Many adults remember taking piano lessons when they were young. My young students are very bright, but lessons are just not something their families can afford. I am looking forward to teaching my Pre-K students some basic piano skills during music class, so they can all can have the piano lesson experience.
Piano lessons build fine motor skills, pre-reading, and aural skills, all while boosting confidence.
I am requesting copies of a tried-and-true, easy piano primer for my preschool students. I am also asking for some stickers for the classroom piano keys, which will help my students identify the note names in relation to the keyboard. Lastly, I am asking for a Freddie the Frog book, which introduces the youngest students to note reading on the staff in a fun, child-friendly way.
Thank you for helping these deserving young students learn to play the piano.
