My AP Chemistry Students Need Help With Their Classroom Library
My students need AP Chem prep books and exams. In addition, I want to introduce them to the wonders of chemistry by reading "The Disappearing Spoon" and "Water Chemistry".
My students need prep books and practice exams to improve their AP Chemistry test scores. Also, I want to introduce them to the wonders of chemistry by reading a delightful book, "The Disappearing Spoon." Finally, we have a 120 gallon reef tank so it would be cool to read the book, "Water Chemistry."
My students are friendly, bright and very hardworking.
Sadly, about 63% of our student body qualifies for "free and reduced lunches." To bridge this socioeconomic divide, I am asking for your help to obtain much-needed AP Chemistry prep books and AP practice exams to vastly improve their AP Chemistry test scores and knowledge. I also want to increase their scientific literacy by introducing them to the wonders of chemistry by reading, "The Disappearing Spoon." Finally, because it is important that my students' have authentic real-world experiences, I set-up a 120 gallon reef tank in our classroom. To augment their understanding of chemistry, and how it applies to the real world, I feel that it is important that my students are introduced to the book, "Water Chemistry." Many of my students dream of becoming veterinarians, pharmacists, chemists and marine biologists.
My Project
These resources will vastly improve my students' scientific literacy and chemistry knowledge. Throughout the school year, my students will learn about solution chemistry, acid/ base chemistry, Henry's Law (dissolved gases), ecology, and water quality/ pollution, along with basic and integrated laboratory process skills.
They have, however, expressed a strong interest in learning more about marine fish and invertebrates.
Many of my students enjoy reading about them from our donated classroom library. By exposing my students to the wonders of the reef, you will make a HUGE difference in my students' lives. Hopefully, after learning more about the reef and its many inhabitants, they will be more focused on helping preserve it. :)
