Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My classroom has 13 Special Day Class students with a range of disabilities. They are Kindergarten, first grade and second graders. In order to learn how to read, we use many materials that provide them with a multi-sensory approach to learning. These strategies greatly enhance my student's abilities to retain information, practice their skills and feel important about their own learning. Our tools often cost a lot of money to acquire or take many hours of labor to create by hand. In order for my students to learn their alphabet, phonics sounds, sight words and other aspects of becoming a great reader, I would like to request some motivating and useful tools. These tools can make learning more motivating to students and provide many opportunities for small group and individual practice, both at school and at home with their parents. Overall, the materials I am requesting include kits for: beginning sounds, letter recognition, letter-sound matching, printing letters, building words, writing simple words and 2 sets of sight word rings for take-home reading practice.
