Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first year teacher at an Elementary school where I teach grades TK-6. We have such an amazing group of students who come to school each day eager to learn and have fun!

At our school our students take charge each day by showing compassion, being healthy and active, showing respect, expressing gratitude and showing effort in all content areas.
Our students are constantly asking what they can do to help out, pick up trash, collect balls on the playground and whatever else they might come up with. Our students are very kind and love to play!
I accepted the job after seeing how beautiful the campus was and fell in love after the first couple of weeks. The students have a play ground and blacktop and field to play with, but am lacking the proper equipment to introduce them to new sports. Our students deserve to experience more than just bouncing the ball on the blacktop. Please help me help them!
My Project
With the materials I have chosen, I plan to introduce students grades K-6 the games of pickleball, and disc golf. We have a blacktop, but no courts so the portable nets are my best bet. We have a large field area too that I plan to incorporate into a disc golf course and tie that into my golf lesson. I am super excited to teach my students about these sports because they are very popular but only in some areas. I would like to teach my students skills that will benefit them for a lifetime. I want my students to know how to strike, catch, throw, shoot, kick, but also to be respectful, altruistic humans and that should begin at an early age. I want my students to experience success in all aspects of physical education and life. I would be forever grateful to be awarded these materials!
