This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are excited to learn music every day. They have a joy and passion for music, and it translates in their work. These students come from a wide range of educational backgrounds, from gifted students to IEP students. We are a Title I school in a high poverty area.
Often, music is the one class of the day where everyone can succeed regardless of socioeconomic or educational backgrounds.
My class provides a way for my students to express themselves in a healthy and supportive environment. It gives them a chance to forget about the worries of today and just be a kid.
My Project
Every student wants to move and be creative! It's in their DNA! So why not utilize this movement in a constructive way that promotes creativity and learning about music?
With this parachute and pack of scarves, my students will be able to move, dance, run, and jump while still learning about key musical concepts.
Students will be able to use the parachute to learn about different forms through choreographed songs. The scarves will be used to teach the students about tempo and show the connection between dance and music. The scarves will also be used to help with motor skills and provide differentiation for special needs students.
