Help me give my students 1 recorder for each student, including those participating in eLearning, as they don't have access to ANY instruments, and enough shakers and boomwhackers for 2 class sets, so we can sanitize between uses.
I am so lucky to be the music teacher for all of the students at Fairglen Elementary, a Title I school. These kids are super creative and capable, and I cannot wait to share new musical experiences with them this school year!
Because of the uncertainty centered around coming back to school during this global pandemic, many students have elected to conduct their learning virtually which means they won't have access to the instruments here at the school.
The students who do return to school will not be able to sing inside (in a music class, no less!) and only may use instruments that can be sanitized between each use.
We want to help all of these fabulous kids have their own recorders to play, whether they are learning in the classroom or virtually from home! Additionally, some of the easy-to-clean music equipment (shakers, Boomwhackers) will help increase the number of children who can participate at a single time in the classroom setting. These wonderful students deserve as much normalcy as we can give them in these difficult times!
My Project
I am working to improve the music education of all our elementary students, including all students who have chosen to return to the brick-and-mortar school and those who have elected to receive an eLearning education. With the purchase of recorders for each student, I can provide the same instruction to students in the classroom and at home, which helps with hybrid classes comprised of both types of learners. The multiple sets of shakers and Boomwhackers will allow for sanitization of musical instruments between each section of music class, to keep our music room safe for all!
