This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are some of the best students you could ask for. They are all members of the middle school band/orchestra program and LOVE what they do. Most of them qualify for free and reduced-price lunches.
They work really hard and produce superior results.
This past school year was the first year the concert band (in school history) received a "Superior" rating at the county concert band assessment! The students are high achievers and I couldn't ask for anything else.
Most of these students have been playing music since elementary school and really enjoy their musical experiences.
My Project
These materials are basic things that my students need to succeed in the band and orchestra program. I already know where each one of these items is going to go if funded. The board is going to replace another board that you are unable to write on or see very much anymore. It's way too old. The strings will be for the cellos that need to be restrung due to old age and the saxophone harness will be used for our BIGGEST instrument (Baritone Saxophone).
My students will be more engaged and focused since they will have the proper materials to stay involved.
I can also tell you about how I have some of the best students in the school reduced-price and they deserve to have the necessary materials to succeed.
These same materials that I have asked for in the past have propelled student learning and achievement beyond anything we have ever done before. With your help, I will be able to continue that legacy with these deserving students.
