Our high school is a large academic-comprehensive high school with a student population of approximately 3,000 students. The overall population represents a rich mixture of cultures.
Our music program has a strong emphasis on the cultural history of music and connecting music to the diversity of our school’s population.
Over the course of the school year, our students have been involved in several performances that have connected and engaged families, alumni, and community members with our school. These events have a great impact on after-school engagement and spirit in our school and community. Our students get to experience success and share their unique gifts with classmates and the community.
We believe music enriches students’ lives and education. Our mission is to instill a lifelong love for making music and a sense of social responsibility to sustain musical activity in our communities.
Building upon our program mission, we seek to revive our orchestra and pit band and enable a renaissance for our music program.
In addition to learning how to perform on musical instruments, our students will also learn the essentials of teamwork, camaraderie, self-discipline, individual responsibility, and social skills that prove to be effective in any career. The skills developed through performances increase comfort, confidence, and willingness to express themselves.
With the funding made possible by this grant, our school would be able to purchase the instruments needed to revive our orchestra and pit band.
Through the generosity of your donations, our school orchestra and pit band would be the force to unite families, community, and students through the commonality of music.
