This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am so excited about teaching music to these bright and inquisitive children. The students that I teach are from many different ethnicities and many of them speak English as a second language. This will be my third year teaching at this school, and I have so much that I want to expose the children too.
My students love to work in groups and share musical experiences together.
With music technology as another resource my students can take on the world!
My Project
I am requesting a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 along with a Surface Pro pen. I have been teaching reading music notation as well as sight reading for years in the classroom. This year I want to take it a step further and introduce music composition to my 3-5th grade students.
Using the Surface Pro 4 will allow me to implement and teach students how to create notation using the app Staffpad, a music notation software that recognizes handwriting converted from the surface pro pen on to the screened device.
It also plays back what the students wrote so that they can edit their music. Allowing students to hear what they composed
