Music Technology Powerhouse Computer!

Help me give my students a powerful enough computer for them to 'master' their original compositions, add sophisticated effects, and plug-ins to take their music making to the next level.

My Students

This coming semester, our talented middle school students will be exploring the exciting world of digital music creation. Learning about music production through using and exploring the tools found in a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) - students will be using Bandlab for Education to create their own musical masterpieces using loops, audio files and our own musical ideas.

After a year of lockdown, I really want to get my wonderful students inspired with the joy of musical composition!

My students are very interested in technology, as our school has a huge focus on STEAM, and I am looking forward to creating a and exciting new musical learning opportunities to truly highlight the A in STEAM!

My Project

Although we have Chromebooks and the free software required to create loop-based tracks, in order for us to really personalize our music and take our learning to the next level, I wish to provide the music room with a powerful enough computer for students to use in our lesson that can cope with mastering tracks, adding plug-ins and effects. We have also sourced USB keyboards to use in our music making, and we will be learning about the piano keyboard as we progress through the topic. Then we will be able to combine this knowledge to use our own voices, riffs and melodic ideas into our original compositions and really get the party started with our masterpieces!

STEAM is a huge focus for us and adding this resource to the music room will transform music technology in our school!

Having a fast and efficient computer in the music room will also benefit all my other students as I always integrate a cross curricular ICT aspect to my music lessons. Being able to project my lesson PowerPoints, music and resources efficiently to the whiteboard will help me teach my students in an engaging and interactive manner.
