Help me give my students supplies to continue to grow. Some of the items are general consumables such as reeds or valve oil for the wind players, others are mallets and sticks that the percussionists use.
My students are very active and dedicated to music. Around 200 students are enrolled in band classes grade 6-8 with almost 1/3rd of my 7th and 8th grade students participating in additional extra curricular music ensembles.
What I love about the students the most is they continue to push themselves when presented with new opportunities to grow.
They have inspired me to grow as a teacher and explore new avenues to support their growth.
The music program has become more active the last couple years, and as a result we need more supplies.
My Project
These supplies will refurbish my stick and mallet supply, and provide reeds and valve oil for students who may otherwise not have the opportunity to participate in music. These supplies give more students an opportunity to have success in music.
Some of my students come from families where if the school did not have some avenue to give music supplies such as reeds, the students would miss the opportunity to be a part of a community, learn an instrument, or build confidence by overcoming their own personal challenges in music.
Although many of these students will not play an instrument after middle school or high school, these lessons can be life changing.
My student's mallets and sticks that the percussionists use are getting old and breaking.
