This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are hard workers. What I love most about my students is how much they want to learn. What makes my students so special is their passion for writing. My 6th grade students have been extremely engaged in their poetry unit.

As their culminating activity to end the unit, we took them to a local recording studio.

Students really enjoyed writing poetry and had an amazing time hearing their poetry transform. The students were so eager to learn how to turn their poetry into music. They are eager to learn how to make music, beats, rhythms and melodies and transform their poetry into music. This is also encouraging them to write.

With this equipment, I want to create a recording studio in the school as well as a podcast. My students could work together to create music, write songs and interview school guests with a podcast show.

This is also creating a positive school as well as culture and climate. This will make it a school where students are motivated to attend.

With this equipment, more students and classes will be able to create music within the school. We want to ensure we can provide more students with this opportunity.
