Hooray! This project is fully funded

This year at the Williams Multiplex my students are learning to play the violin! I am the general music teacher at Williams, a public school in the inner-city of Chicago, and I started the Soaring Strings Violin Orchestra earlier this fall. The ensemble meets twice a week, and approximately thirty elementary students and fifteen middle school students are enrolled. We are well supplied with violins, extra strings, and books, but we are in need of music stands! Right now we are learning song by rote, but very soon we need to use music stands in class so the students can more effectively learn to read music and play more songs. The students LOVE learning the violin and are progressing nicely, but now we crowd around the one music stand that I have, which is borrowed from another school. Twelve music stands would suffice for the current size of the program. Not only would the orchestra students benefit, but all the students in the school would benefit because I see all the students in general music classes once a week. With music stands all the students in the school could more easily play songs with other instruments, and have a true musical experience. Inner-city schools have many needs, and my school is not an exception. Thank you for your considering a donation of music stands to help enrich my students' musical experiences which will in turn enrich their lives.
