Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The students at this school are very diverse and include special education students, advanced students, lower income and middle income students. The students are kindergarten through fourth grade and there are multiple classes for each grade level.

The students are very interested in music and eager to sing and learn about music.

Many of the students want to be involved with music even outside of school. The students want to be involved and learn new concepts.

My Project

Currently, my students sit on used carpet squares that are fraying. Getting a new large rug will give the students a place to sit that is new, clean, and inviting. Having a new rug will make it so that the students are not distracted by fraying carpet squares. The large rug will give students a place to work and sit during class.

Getting a new rug will give students a fun, engaging, clean, and bright space to sit, learn, and work.

The individual dots will help by giving students their own place to sit when they come to class.

The large rug and individual spots will help the students by giving them a more unified area to sit. Students will not have to rush into class and worry about where they will sit with these materials.
