Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from diverse backgrounds and share their talents with each other to create an amazing learning environment. Music class has been a great place for them to practice and demonstrate our school's character tenets of Problem solving, Respect, Integrity, being Neighborly, and Taking responsibility (PRINT).
Their resilience and love of music motivate me to provide them with the best experiences I can provide.
My Project
My students have been so flexible this school year! We have managed to still perform in music class, despite all of the restrictions we have had. Transitioning from teaching on a cart to having my own music room has made me aware of what additional supplies my students need to musically and academically grow.
While performing is always our main focus, to become complete musicians we need to be able to write our musical thoughts!
With the set of clipboards, my students can now do activities that don't require them to use their computer. Our musical room doesn't have desks, so now they will be able to practice writing music notation and jot down musical ideas! The extra mallets will help replenish our supplies of materials that have been over used this year.
