Our school is made up of about two thousand students. We have a mix of races and socioeconomic backgrounds. We also have a large military population, so many of our students come from a wide variety of educational experiences. Our school, teachers, and students work hard each day.
I teach about one hundred high school students each day.
The way the curriculum is set up, students don't receive a lot of self-guided instruction until they reach high school. I work hard to make sure that the students get as many hands-on experiences as possible. I want to help prepare them for college and life after school. I try to make my class fun and interesting for the students.
My Project
We are in need of a computer that can handle the needs of a real music project from pre-production to recording a performance to post-production. The students will input their created music from instruments and then use the computer system to modify the input. The school provides enough Chromebooks for students to learn very basic skills, but the lack of a hard drive on these computers makes it very difficult to make legitimate projects.
Allowing students to create a music project from their own imaginations will better prepare them for the challenges of college and the real world.
This will also allow students to begin understanding the needed tools and supplies for basic music creation. These skills can be applied to many professional fields as they move on to college or seek out professional service jobs after high school.
