Help me give my students the best experience to learn music online and when we return face-to-face. These items will help me teach more efficiently this year and years to come.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a rural community with a high poverty rate where approximately 80% of our students come from a low socio-economic home. My first year at this school was last year and consisted of very few sheets music and old, broken instruments. However, my students came with a desire to learn music and increase their musical talents. Many of my students go on to try out for high school marching band. I want all of them to appreciate music and arts in their lives.
My Project
These materials will help me to teach music online, as well as face-to-face instruction. The music boards will help me to give a visual for when I teach through Zoom and in-person. The Standard of Excellence book is a book that I need for my saxophone players, since I did not have any books for them last year. Also, the saxophones have missing parts, such as the ligatures, which is vital to play the instrument. The music theory book will help me teach not only band, but also music appreciation courses.
