Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am so lucky to work with a wonderfully diverse community of learners who are committed to finding ways to follow their dreams. We have many students who are English language learners, many who come from low-income families and many who come from different neighborhoods to access the specialized programs we offer at our school.
I work with exceptional students because who they are is beyond your typical expectations.
They are unique. I run the moderate to severe special education classroom, serving students with intellectual disabilities, orthopedic impairments, other health impairments and autism.
My Project
We are ready to bring more musical learning into our classroom! The items we are requesting are for musical instruments from around the world, with a focus on musical instruments that imitate the sounds of nature. We are asking for a Japanese Den Den, maracas and rain makers.
Music helps develop language and reasoning, skills that we are always working to improve with our students.
Music is engaging and fun and helps provide a more dynamic learning experience. Music builds imagination and sparks creativity. Alternatively, it can also provide breaks for students who need a calm area to relax where they can take time to deescalate.
When students make music together it improves their confidence and gives them even more opportunities to work collaboratively. Music inspires learning. Help make us a more musical classroom!
