I teach in a classroom of four typically developing children and eight children who have identified disabilities ranging in age from three to five years old. However, we have two other classrooms in our building, one that mirrors mine, and a Head-Start classroom of twenty. So, in total we have 41 preschoolers moving throughout the three classrooms working on various projects and learning from all our wonderful staff. Preschool children, in general, are very hands-on and active, and the children we seem to be serving year after year is in need of sensory experiences.
Our school has a population of students that 91% live below the poverty level, and of those, 41% are homeless living in nearby shelters, so we try hard to provide wonderful experiences that will assist the children not only academically, but emotionally and socially.
This project includes music shakers, bells, and heaven helps my drums! Also included in this project request is more fun math games, such as eggs for our kitchen area that you have to match correctly to put them together. A fun fall squirrel and nut game, and a matching apple game that must be right to make an apple.
We have also requested some classroom necessities like our dab a dots for painting and the corresponding sheets to practice our numbers with.
since the alphabet sheets were such a big hit!
These items will assist us in making learning fun!
