This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Creating and performing music is one of the biggest goals I have as a music educator. My students love to create music using instruments and to perform their creations for their classmates. One of our favorites is to create using pitched instruments.

For many children, this is their only formal exposure learning about music and their first chance to create their own music.

Two times per week, my children have music class for 45 minutes in the K-1 grades. My school has in excess of 95% of the students from low income households.

My Project

I am wanting to purchase additional sets of Chroma-Notes Diatonic Desk Bells from Rythm Band Instruments. The students are working with the Preschool Prodigies program. The program is a beginning music course which teaches aural skills through the use of solfege note and rhythm reading. The students develop a sense of pitch and beat through playing the bells to the songs.

The bells will allow students to play as well as sing songs, thus developing good musical skills.

The Chrom-Notes bells offer younger students, who are developing their fine motor skills, the opportunity to be successful while they are improving musical skills.
