Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are mainly first and second graders that love to move their bodies. Music is a great way to motivate individuals to release that energy. I currently do not have a sound system to motivate students. My students are of lower socioeconomic status (75% free and reduced lunch) and do not have the ability to get their own motivating music.
I love that when my students come through the doors that they give me great effort even without music.
I feel that I can bring even more out of them with the aid of music. Not only can I use this speaker for music but as a speaker for showing skill videos that I want them to be able to perform.
Students are expected to "sit and get" all day long. They're only with me twice a week for 30 minutes each. I want to utilize every single minute that I get with them, and the speaker would be a major boost to our learning.
My Project
My job as a physical educator is to provide many opportunities for learning in my classroom. I want to motivate my students to remain active for their entire lifetime. One great motivator is music.
As adults, when we exercise we have music to move us.
Many of us might not even consider exercise without motivating music to push us through that last set of exercises.
My students currently do not have music to motivate them. With your generous donation of this stereo system, you can help generations of students who come to me to learn skills that will help them throughout their lives. I not only teach physical education, but I want to build better citizens and I think music can aid me in my teaching.
