My Students

The island of Maui is rich with diverse cultures. Our school has a high population of Pacific Islanders and Marshallese students. The student population consists of over 50% who qualify for free and reduced-price lunch. Our school provides free meals for all students daily, which includes breakfast and lunch.

It is a joy and privilege to teach at our school.

Our first grade students love music, but our school does not have the funds or resources to purchase musical instruments or a music teacher.

My Project

The musical instruments and white boards I am requesting for my students will be used to teach music to my students. There are currently no music classes or instruments in our school.

The recorders will be used to teach tempo, rhythm and reading music notes.

We will use the white boards for many things, including writing music notes. Our current white boards are getting worn out because we use them every day for math and reading. I would like new white boards for the students. These are also magnetic. Students can use their magnetic letters and tiles we have to help with spelling and writing.
