My Students

"In the spirit of `Ohana, we strive for excellence." This quote embodies the family and community spirit that thrives in our small, rural town, on the island of Maui. My 3rd grade students are made up of a melting pot of worldwide ethnic backgrounds, with a majority being Native Hawaiian. These students come from low-income families that are in need of assistance. Despite many challenges, however, students continue to thrive at our school.

I want to do everything I can to help these amazing young people achieve their greatest potential!

My Project

My students are incredibly creative and thrive in the arts. They really love to explore sounds, textures, and movement. Unfortunately, the arts have taken a big hit in public schools in the last few years. We don't have an art or music teacher/program at our school and we have very limited instruments for students to play. Despite these challenges, I try my best to give them exposure and practice to multiple art forms, especially music!

With your help, my students will have more exposure to musical opportunities and provide exciting instruments to help them expand their creativity!

Music is such an awesome part of life and I know that with more experience, they will connect to sound in new ways. Who knows, we may even inspire the next Bruno Mars! Mahalo for your help.
