My Students

My Northern Indiana Elementary MUSIC students are thoughtful, expressive, and creative. Music class allows them opportunities to explore who they are as individuals and grow in ways they may have never expected!

For many students, music class opens a whole new world of artistic expression through listening, movement, singing, or playing of instruments!

Whether I am focusing on introducing the basics of music to kindergartners or enjoying the creative compositions of sixth graders, I am honored to be a part of each student's musical journey!

My Project

My project focuses on sixth grade music students, our oldest grade in elementary school. For some, sixth grade is their final year of any type of musical instruction.

My project is an opportunity to provide a magical experience--playing the ukulele!

When I introduced the idea of ukuleles to our sixth graders this year, they were SUPER EXCITED!!! I just knew this would be a great tool for our students in sixth grade music class.

Students will learn simple ukulele strumming and picking fundamentals, but the instrument will also a tool for experiencing popular music and creative composition!
