I teach music to kindergarten through fifth graders in a title one SC school. My students love music and look forward to class daily.
I am blessed to have a smart board in my classroom (an interactive white board) but only have two music software titles to use with it. My students LOVE coming up to the smart board during class to be truly involved in the lesson. They are learning music theory without even realizing it. They just think it is fun. And hey, learning should be fun!
I would love to add two more music software titles to our classroom. "Groovy Shapes" is designed for preschool and early elementary age students. It gives them the foundation in music concepts that they need for higher level learning. "Essentials of Music Theory" goes more in depth with various theory topics and will be used with my 3rd through 5th graders. These lessons can be used as an into to new concepts, as practice, and as review/assessment at the end of a unit. The possibilities are truly endless.
I would also like to keep track of the progress of each class that I teach. I will create charts to mark off the concepts/lessons covered by each of my 18 classes. This will give all of my students motivation to keep up with the others in their grade level. A visual chart will be the easiest way for students to see their accomplishments with the software.
Music theory can be a "chore" in the eyes of students but these software programs get them engaged and make learning incredibly fun. These programs and charts will be used with all 400 of my students on a weekly basis! Over the years, your donation will impact THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS!!!
