"Music is the electrical soil in which the spirit lives, thinks and invents." --Ludwig van Beethoven
Music pervades virtually every aspect of our lives.
Music motivates listeners of all ages. Do you remember songs that tie into events in your life?
We are a group of 23 extraordinary students and a wonderful teacher.
We attend a small preK -2 primary school. We have a high percentage of transient military families. Because of the reduction in spending our district no longer has money for extras. Our PTA is trying to make up for the missing funds for basic needs in the classroom.
Our community has become more diverse over the years with more lower income families moving into the area. We are not a Title 1 school so receive no money.
My Project
My students and I would love an MP3 player to replace the scratched Cd's we have been using. Research supports that listening to varieties of music leads to better test scores, higher vocabulary development, better reading comprehension and math scores. Recent literature suggests that low background music is helpful in the learning process. It can set the environment to create learning, listening, activate brain wave states, improve memory and increase attention to tasks. We listen to a variety of music throughout the day. A little Enya in the morning....Chicken Dance in the afternoons and Justin Beber when we write sentences. Music motivates my students to word harder. An MP3 player will allow me to update my music more often and provide a large variety of genres.
Music will activate my students mentally, physically, and emotionally and create learning states which enhance understanding of learning material.
Integrating music into my classroom has helped motivate my students to apply themselves and learn. Music creates a mood in my room. Please help keep my student motivated by music.
