My Students

I am so fortunate to teach music to a fantastic group of third graders this school year. The students are excited to be back in the classroom this school year and looking forward to learning the recorders. There are a number of good recorders and curriculums, but I believe they would be most excited for Recorder Karate.

Recorder Karate provides them with a fun music book, "belts" that they earn as they master each song, and fun themes with each selection.

I believe recorders and curriculum will enable them to have a fun and creative outlet this school year

My Project

My third grade music students are so excited to learn to play the recorders. They are learning to read music, and they are so excited to learn songs on recorders. They are excited to perform again. The prospect of performing on these instruments for friends and family is something about which they are already inquiring.

The Recorder Karate curriculum is also a great way to teach them music.

The program introduces familiar songs to them from the beginning. It gives them the opportunity to familiarize themselves with a few notes before delving into more challenging songs. The chance to earn their reward belts is a great motivator for them as well. They love hanging the belts on the recorder and showing others their progress.
