Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When I first started teaching in this district, I discovered that children didn't have the excitement I hoped they would have for music. The district is very low income and there is no budget for me to buy any materials for the class. I introduced our students to the Music-K-8 magazine series and they fell in love with the silly catchy songs, that also brought incredible teachable moments to our classroom.
Our students have learned so much and now need ways to write their musical thoughts and ideas.
Our students love music and I would love to expand their fluency by giving them access to resources to be able to use their growing knowledge.
My Project
Having dry erase boards, markers and paper is going to allow my students to be able to draw, write and continue to become more fluent readers and writers in music. Currently our district does not have a budget for teachers when we need basic materials, and these simple materials will help my students to access and meet the state standards.
Please help our students be able to meet state standards by giving us the resources to be able to do it.
Currently students in my classroom do not have paper, writing implements, and ways that their progress can be monitored concretely over time. In order to meet state standards we need to be able to use our skills to advance our knowledge.
