All my students have significant developmental disabilities including cognitive and physical disabilities. They range in age from 3-21 years of age. This particular project is geared toward my preschool students.
Due to the severity of their disabilities, they attend a separate school for students with those types of delays.
Most of the students come from low-income families. My students' needs are considered intensive, and they struggle with many day-to-day tasks. However, despite their difficulties with many everyday tasks of daily living, they thoroughly enjoy music therapy sessions and often "shine" during the activities presented.
This project includes two mini cabasas that are the perfect size for little hands. It also includes four pairs of "maracitos", small maracas with a ribbed handle. The maracitos are some of the most durable maracas I have ever used and the kids love the colors. Many students are also attracted to the ribbed handle and look deep in the bucket for those specific chiquitas.
My preschoolers have a hard time managing many of the larger instruments that my older students enjoy.
These smaller items are "perfect for preschool". The mini cabasas are also terrific for getting hands open and fingers stretched, something that isn't easy for many of my students.
