Most of my students have autism and some of them have multiple impairments. They range in age from elementary to post-secondary. Music is universal. It has no boundaries. No disability can stop someone from being creative. Students get to express their emotions and feelings through music.
During Covid the students did not have access to instruments.
A song or instrument can support cognitive activity so that we can build self-awareness and improve relationships with others. In our school, we believe in "A Spectrum of Learning." They can learn with hope and perseverance from the teachers. I hope to assist the students in exploring the world of music. Through introducing an instrument, the student may bond first with the object and then open up to others interacting with their instruments as well. I hope to boost students' morale, self-confidence, and self-efficacy through music.
