As I start a new school year teaching music, I want to make sure my students are provided for in every way possible, and that includes having quality instruments. Due to budget shortfalls especially with the arts, DonorsChoose.org provides an amazing avenue for educators to bring the very best to children in need.
My students don't have a lot and it has been my goal as an educator to fundraise as much as possible to help them get what they need to have exceptional experiences in music.
I've had a lot of success at my other schools through this great organization and will continue to bring high-quality instruments to students in need.
Thanks to amazing donors, I was able to finally start a small drumming ensemble for my 4th and 5th graders. Of course, there was only one problem: so many kids tried out I had to turn a lot of great drummers away! We just don't have enough drums! This is why I'm back here on Donors Choose hoping for another successful project!
Another drum will allow more students to groove along to lessons, ensembles and so much more.
Students learn about steady beat and layering complex rhythms on top of each other at the younger ages and by the time they are 4th and 5th grade they will be able to join our brand new drumming ensemble. We will perform for school functions, community events and hopefully send students to All-County. Students will not only learn musicianship but a whole list of other life skills such as teamwork, leadership and of course respect.
Thank you for considering my project and I hope that you take the time to make a donation for my students!
