Mrs. Maurizi from Urbana IL is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need to be able to see the music we sing & play. We cannot afford books for every grade level. A document camera would project the music for everyone to see!

Fine arts are essential to our lives! The arts in our schools are special and provide a great enriching experience. I struggle to make my tiny budget stretch for an entire school of students and want to give them the best. Our district is unique in offering music, dance, art, and drama.
Over 75% of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch programs.
They depend on school for so much, and we provide them with education, social learning, and experiences in the fine arts. Many of our students come from different countries, and we are a very diverse group.
I teach music to all grades in the school and half the students in another school. A document camera would allow me to project music notation, listening maps and other resources to the entire classroom at once using my digital projector. One of the first classes that would benefit from this camera would be my 4th grade students, who are learning to read music and play recorder. I could project the music for all to see, and circulate the room, helping students with hand positions and technique. Another type of lesson that would benefit all of my students are listening maps. Listening maps are visual representations of the music. These guide students as they listen, giving clues about form, the instruments playing, and the dynamic levels. A projection of a map would be very exciting and engage more students. A document camera would be a great addition to the projector I already use and allow me to utilize technology in a way that makes a better , classroom experience for my students
This would have a huge impact on my teaching.
I would make a lot less photo copies, be able to physically interact more with my students, and provide very much needed visual aids along with my lessons. This piece of technology would be a great step to adding even more interaction into my active classroom.
