Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

My Students
My students are exploring themselves and their worlds. Their writing is interesting and relevant. Often it's accompanied by illustrations and photos. As they learn new things and develop new interests they are sharing through various artistic mediums. One of those mediums is music. A group of students have shared the fact that they are writing songs; lyrics and melodies. They are sharing their worlds and how they see themselves in it to the beat of their own drums. I'd like to help them share the music in their hearts and souls with the world.
My students are a talented bunch.
We are a Title I school, but we're rich in creativity. The majority of the students come from economically disadvantaged homes; 97% are minorities, 87.5% ESOL, and 87.5% of our students receive free or reduced lunches. Our students work hard and are openly exploring their creativity in many forms as they explore their feelings and opinions through their work. This is a creative time for them.
My Project
We're fortunate in that we're moving into a new building with a small studio. The sad thing is that there is no equipment in that studio. When I first came to the old school we had a beautiful choir. Students looked forward to joining and performing. That all changed six years ago.
Now, students are talking about the music they've been making at home and uploading to Tik Tok.
They're interested in using the studio in our school and I want to give them a chance to do so. I want them to have the opportunity and resources to create in a semi-professional environment and share their talent with the world. As a Computer Technology instructor I feel that I should allow my students to utilize a variety of technology as they share their creativity. I'd appreciate your help in doing it.
