Amy, Terry, and Kenny want to improve our classroom environment. They would love to get support from you to get a few items to help enhance their educational opportunities and their classmates'. They have ideas to organize the room, provide Internet connectivity, and listen to practice recordings.
My students are very creative! They got tired of putting their cases on the ground since we don't have any shelves and want a nice way to organize the instruments. They also didn't like how they were on the floor or how they become easily mixed up. Terry and Kenny enjoyed playing along to 'A River Flows In You,' but our speakers are tiny and soft, and they want a set that they (and maybe) the band could practice with. They really want us to sound better and listening to recordings is a great way to learn and accomplish that. Our school is old and the school's router has trouble penetrating the thick, brick walls. Amy and Jenny were tired of having slow and mostly unreliable Internet. I told them that we have a wired connection in the room, but if they could get a router for the room and practice area, the Internet should work flawlessly. I'm really proud that they are taking the initiative to make our learning environment a better place. Please consider helping them.
The students worked together as a team to problem solve some of our classroom issues. This is providing them experience that will benefit them on future projects or tough job situations. They know that a clean, organized space is more conducive to better and more efficient learning. My juniors really took charge of this idea and project, which will make a great addition for their college recommendation letters. This will aid students in practicing and, hopefully, get a college scholarship. Amy took charge, acted as a true leader, and managed to get several more students in her class on board taking on different ideas and roles. A true leader will see the benefit of something for people of multiple ages and ability levels, and they have definitely proven this. Hopefully, this will encourage younger students to stay with music education when they grow older. They are thinking about the future of music at school.
In Their Own Words
Our goal is to help make our learning environment more vibrant by bringing in newer technologies and providing a way for instrument organization. Kenny: I like playing along with 'A River Flows In You,' but our speakers are too soft. A larger speaker would let us practice along with music we find online. Amy: I can't stand that I can't find my flute! I've been begging for shelves, so each class and section can get their instruments quickly and we won't spend 15 minutes trying to find our own.
We will be leaders in bringing this project to life. Since we are section leaders, this will help us practice music to teach my section for the concert. We want to be the best, and practice aids and exploration are the only way to achieve this. We can also begin class quicker with more organization. With these items, we will be able to further advance our music studies.
We play concerts at school and around town and this will help us play cooler and different music for people and sound better. I like playing for the school and sharing my experiences with them. We love music and want to share with as many people as possible because of the positive impact that it can have, both as a performance art and academic area. Thanks for your support!
