My students need access to supplies to support their education, when strings snap or reeds break students do not have immediate access and are unable to travel on their own to the nearest supply store.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are driven, creative, and passionate in their musical experience. Our high school is the only one in the area school in the area, serving about 1300 students. There are currently 3 musical classes offered to the student body; choir, concert band, and beginning band. On-site clubs include an orchestral strings club which during our lunch time.
Not all students have access to instruments, music supplies, or musical education due to financial constraints.
Nearly half the students (49%) at my school are on free or reduced lunches. More and more students come into my classes to learn and experience musical, but resources both at school and at home are limited.
My Project
We are in constant need of musical supplies for the upkeep and maintenance of instruments in the classroom. These musical supplies are things that students use everyday and when they are broken or used up, it is hard for the students to purchase the supplies, and difficult for the program to regularly supply it. With this project these supplies could help class with supplies for this year and through the next year, making supplies and tool much more accessible.
The nearest accessible music supply store for students is in the next town over, which is 14 miles away.
Instead of pausing learning when something is broken and waiting to replace it, we can immediately supply, replace, and continue to move on during class time.
Strings and reeds are one of the most used supplies for instrumental music classes. The guitar cases included are to currently cover recently donated guitars that do not have cases, which will prevent damage and wear, making them last much longer for student use
Many beginning students do not know the where, why, or how of these supplies and this allows me have them at the ready instead of sending an inexperienced student (and often times inexperienced parent) shopping for supplies.
