My students need classroom percussion instruments (2 xylophones and a set of bells) to practice song accompaniments. With these instruments they would be about to do ostinatos, echoes, drones, and more!!

Our school has a elementary general music program and a middle school band program. The elementary program does not have many materials and the students are not able to easily transition into the higher level program. They are eager and excited but need instruments to practice their skills!
My students are amazing.
We have practiced created instruments with recycling materials and they can explain how an instrument resonates, produces high and low pitches, and how to vary volume. They can sing along with classroom percussion but are so eager to try more sophisticated instruments. They can sing beautifully and can do so without accompaniment, but with a xylophone accompaniment they would have so much more to show. They do not have the means to buy their own instruments. At our school we offer them as many experiences as we can so that they may go out in to the word and be ready for it. They are expected to be good citizens, productive individuals, and I truly hope they will always be supportive patrons of the arts.
My classroom is student-centered and I primarily focus our time on centers. Students are able to choose from various music-centered small group activities such as practicing singing skills, listening to music examples, playing instruments, doing music theory, and reading about composers and music history. I have used instruments I have but now they are primed and ready to try more sophisticated instruments. I would be working closely with the instrument center so that they pratice properly and work together as a team to create harmony.
My students are used to creating something from nothing.
We have used recycled materials, sung without instruments, worked with our imaginations, and they are ready for the next step. They are advanced enough in their music education that they need to be using the proper materials to reflect it. They deserve a high quality musical education to match their efforts, their energy, and their readiness to be amazing!
